Dashrath Manjhi - A man who is responsible for making a way through an entire mountain using only a hammer

Dashrath Manjhi is a man who is a great example of hard work and dedication. He is the man who single-handedly dug a road right through a mountain using only a hammer and chisel. He decided to make this impossible task possible when his love for his wife turned into stubbornness after the tragic death of his wife and did not sit quietly until a path was made through an entire mountain. For this incredible achievement, he was also named Mountain Man. Dashrath Manjhi came from a very backward area and belonged to the Dalit group, a member of the lowest caste of India's caste system. In early life, he struggled to ask for his minor rights. He left his home at a young age and worked in the coal mines at Dhanbad. But he later returned to the village of Gehlaur, near Gaya in Bihar where he became an agricultural laborer and married Falguni Devi.

Dashrath Manjhi's journey to becoming a mountain man is incomplete without mentioning his wife. In 1959, due to the steeply ascending quartzite ridge standing between Gehlaur and the hospital, his wife Falguni Devi could not get treatment at the right time when she was badly injured and passed away. Some reports say that she was walking along a narrow path across the rocky ridge to bring her husband some water or lunch when she was seriously injured. The nearest medical facility was about 40 miles away and she died shortly after the accident. Hurt by the grief of his wife's death, he decided to give all his strength and resolved to cut a road across the ridge to make his village more accessible so that such a tragedy would never happen again. But according to Manjhi, it was not easy when he started hammering the hill, initially, he was called lunatic by the people but that steeled his resolve. Over time, the locals began to honor his work, as he saw him keeping his promise and many of them began to provide food and tools for the "Mountain Man". Manjhi worked continuously on the road day after day, slowly but one day he was able to make way from the hill. He completed the work in 22 years, from 1960 to 1982 and carved a path 110 m long, 9.1 m wide and 7.6 m deep through a ridge of rocks, and reduced the distance between the Atri and Wazirganj sectors of the Gaya district from 55 km to 15 km.

At the age of 73, the mountain man was diagnosed with cancer in his gallbladder and was admitted to AIIMS, leading to his death in 2007. On his death, he was given a state funeral by the Government of Bihar. After he left the world, his inspiring story of how he had become a mountain man was left behind, which will continue to teach a lesson to many generations to come.

Anand Kumar - A Mathematician Best Known For His Super 30 Programme

Recently a trailer of a new movie named "Super 30" has been launched, in which the great actor Hrithik Roshan is seen reprising the role of Mathematician Anand Kumar. After watching the trailer, everyone would have been keen to know about Anand Kumar's life. So let's start to know some interesting facts about his life. Anand Kumar is such a name that very few people are familiar with. He is an Indian educationalist and a mathematician. Apart from this, his biggest identity is as the founder of the Super 30 programme, which was started by him in 2002 in Patna, Bihar. The main purpose of the Super 30 programme is to prepare underprivileged students for IIT-JEE, the entrance examination for the Indian Institutes of Technology.

Anand Kumar was born on 1 January 1973 in Patna, Bihar, in a very poor family. His father was a clerk in the Indian postal department, so he could not afford private schooling for his son. That is why Anand had to study in Hindi medium at Government School, despite not wanting it. Anand Kumar was a very clever and intelligent student since his childhood, during that time he developed his deep interest in mathematics. He used to spend much of his studies in answering the question of mathematics. He submitted papers on number theory during his graduation, which were published in Mathematical Spectrum and The Mathematical Gazette. Meanwhile, he got admission to Cambridge University, but could not attend due to his financial condition and father's death.

After the death of his father, he used to help in selling papads in the evening with his mother and used to study mathematics during the day time. Anand started his small business from home and started to teach mathematics to earn more money. In 1992, he started his own coaching center, Ramanujan School of Mathematics, to teach mathematics. For this, he had to rent a classroom for Rs 500 a month. Initially, when he started teaching, there were only 2 students at that time and within a year the figure had reached 36. In the next three years, there were more than 500 students in his coaching center. In 2000, a very poor student came to him seeking coaching for IIT-JEE, he could not afford the annual admission fee due to poverty. Inspired by that boy, he started a new program Super 30 in 2002.

In the Super 30, a total of 30 students are selected. This institute prepares for IIT entrance. All three subjects are studied in this institute, Math, Physics, and Chemistry. Every May, since 2002, the Ramanujan School of Mathematics holds a competitive test to select 30 students for the Super 30 program, but among many students, he selects 30 intelligent students belonging to economically backward classes. For those thirty students, his mother used to cook and Anand Kumar used to teach them. He also took responsibility to provide them the study materials and lodging for a year. Between 2003 and 2017, 450 boys were taught in this super 30 and out of them, 391 students passed the difficult exams like IITs with good marks. In 2010, all the students of Super 30 cleared IIT JEE entrance making it a three in a row for the institution. From 2008 to 2010, 30 out of 30 students cleared the IIT-JEE. In 2011, 24 passed, 27 passed in 2012, 28 passed in 2013, 27 passed in 2014, 25 passed in 2015, 28 passed in 2016, 30 passed in 2017, and in 2018, 26 were passed in IIT-JEE examination.

When his Super 30 program become popular, many private sectors - both national and international companies came forward to sponsor him, but Anand Kumar refused them. He wanted to sustain Super 30 through his own efforts and decided to manage this super 30 program on the tuition fees earned from Ramanujan Institute. On Anand Kumar's 'Super 30' program, an hour-long documentary was also shown on Discovery Channel in March 2009. His tremendous story was also published in 'The New York Times'. He was also honored with the Global Education Award on November 8, 2018.

Anand Kumar watched the movie trailer with his family and shared a picture on Twitter. Along with that, he wrote, after watching the trailer, tears came in the eyes of the whole family. It felt like I was watching myself in the film. The days of struggle were remembered.

In today's world, no one wants to help another person until he has his own selfishness in that work. But people like Anand Kumar still exist in this world who feel good to help others without being selfish.

Never use God's name to prove your selfishness

Once there was a man. His name was Ramdas. He was a religious person. He was very diligent and through his hard work he had transformed his farm into a beautiful garden, in which there were different kinds of fruit trees. One day when he arrived in his garden, he saw that a hermit climbed a tree and was eating fruits. Ramdas said to him, Baba, how did you come to my garden and why are you eating fruits from my garden like this? If you wanted the fruits then you should have ask me for this, I never refuse you. Upon hearing this he said, I did not need to ask anyone. This whole world is created by God. This garden, trees and plants in it are also created by him. I am a servant of God. In this regard, I also have the right to these fruits. I can eat as many fruits as i want. It is a desire of God.

Ramdass said, I am also a servant of God. But I do not do the wrong thing like you. You are doing theft. You are stealing my fruits and eating it. By listening to this, the hermit got angry and said, you are a sinner who is scolding me like this. Ramdas understood that he is a hypocrite in the form of a hermit. Ramdas decided to teach him a lesson. After eating the fruit, as soon as he descended from the tree, Ramdas took a rope and tied him to the stem of tree and then picked up a stick and started beating him. That hypocrite started shouting and said, you are not ashamed to beat me with such unkindness. Do not you have any fear of God? Ramdas said, why should I fear? This garden, this stick and my hand are all the possessions of God. The right-wrong God knows. Understand that what I am doing is the desire of God. Upon hearing this, he apologized for his behavior with Ramdas and then decided to never do that again.

It means that many times people make excuses of God to grab things of others. They want to prove their selfishness by immoral actions with absolute morality. If someone is using the name of God for doing wrong, then the name of God can be used to teach him a lesson.

Do not be discouraged, be courageous

One day a farmer's donkey fell into the well. Seeing a beautiful woman on the road, you can say that God has created a very beautiful creation, I thank you for this. But after seeing the same woman, if someone's mind is affected by lust, then these negative thoughts can motivate you to commit sin. You are doing the both good deeds or bad deeds. A person came to meet Swami Vivekananda, his face was showing glimpses of sadness and pain. On seeing Swami ji, he fell on his feet and started saying, 'Swami ji, I am very sad. I always do a lot of hard work, despite this I have never succeeded. Swami ji understood his problems in a moment. He handed his little pet dog to that person and said, please go on a walk with this little dog for a while, after that I will answer your questions. That person spent a lot of time with the dog. He was taking care of that dog very much because swami ji has given that dog to him. Later, when he returned to Swami ji with the dog, there was no trace of fatigue on his face. It did not seem that he had returned after hard work, but the dog was looking very tired. Swami ji asked the person, why did this dog so tired? It looks tired but you are looking fresh and clean as before. The person replied, "Swami ji, I was walking straight on my path. The dog continued to run. It ran behind all the dogs in the street, fighting with them and then again came back to me.

We both have covered the same distance, but this dog has run far more than me, so it is tired. Swami ji smiled and said, this is the answer to your questions. Instead of going directly to your destination, you keep running behind other people. You have wasted your lot of energy in it. You covered the same distance, but you get tired very badly. Now he was agreed with Swami ji.

Burden of problems on mind

One day there was a lecture on psychology in a classroom. That day a new teacher came in the class. After mutual introduction the teacher started teaching the students. All the students were listening to the things very carefully, which the teacher was teaching. After some time, the teacher picked up the glass of water which was kept on the table. The students started thinking that now the teacher will teach them a lesson of half-glass filled and half empty. But the teacher asked, students, can you tell me the weight of the glass which i have in my hand? Students began to respond according to their estimation. Someone told weighing of 50 grams and someone told weighing of 100 grams. After listening to the students response, the teacher said, well, whatever the weight of this glass does not matter. What matters is how long I can keep it in my hands. If I pick it up from 5 to 10 minutes, then it will not affect me. But if I keep it for 1 hour continuously then my hand will start to feel pain. Likewise, if I continue to raise it in a similar fashion throughout the day, my hand will definitely feel numb, which will make me suffer a lot.

The students also agreed to the teacher's suggestion. The teacher further said that we also have problems in the same way. If I worry about a little problem for some time then this will not burden me much, but if I keep worrying about it for long time, then my stress will increase. Maybe I can become a victim of depression. So it is better that the problems should not be given unnecessary importance. According to the problem we should find the solution as soon as possible. Do not let your problems stay in your mind for long time and do not take too much stress about them. It can also have a bad effect on health. Once there was a boy. He had many friends. He was very proud of his friends. His father had only one friend, but he was his true friend. Using intellect, man has divided himself into religions and castes instead of binding himself in the form of unity and has given birth to innumerable disputes. If a man wanted, he could use his intellect to bind the whole human race into the form of unity and make his life meaningful and successful, but he did not do it. If human still uses his intellect in good and righteous deeds, then he can make life successful, which other creatures of the world can not do. Now the disciple agreed with the master.

Do every work with good thinking

There was a hermitage of a monk in a city. In his hermitage, he often preached and people used to come from very far away to listen to that monk's knowledge. The monk was very proud of his knowledge. There was a dancer in the same city. She used to dance in front of people to earn money. The dance of that dancer was very famous. She was very famous among many people. Incidentally, something happened that the monk and dancer died on the same day. After the death, when both of them reached Yamlok, the matter of giving them heaven or hell on the basis of their deeds and the hidden feelings behind them was being discussed. The Monk had full faith that he has done good deeds throughout his life, so he would get only heaven. On the other hand, there was no such idea in the mind of that dancer. She was just waiting for Yama's (God of death) decision. After looking at the accounts of the deeds of both of them, Yama announced that the monk will go in hell and dancer will go in heaven. After listening to this, the monk was shocked. He asked Yama, what kind of justice you have done with me? I always preached to people throughout my life and I got the hell, while this woman always danced to attract people, but she is being given heaven. Why so? Yama responded calmly that the dancer danced to fill her stomach but she always remained in the same feeling that my art is God's gift and I am dedicating it to God's feet. While you always remained proud of your knowledge which continued in your preach and behavior. Then do not forget that you used to think in your mind that I wish I could have an opportunity to see her dance. It seems that you have forgotten this important message of God that the feelings hidden behind the task are actually more important than the task. On hearing this, the monk remained silent. It is essential that we should do any work, but our feeling should always be good, otherwise the work that is good to be seen can also make us a partner of sin instead of good deed.
