India is a country of diversities, where samples of various impressive natural attractions can be seen, especially the lakes, and the water flowing through these lakes capable of grabbing everyone's attention. Everyone wants to enjoy it, but just imagine what you would do if you were asked to go near a lake where visitors never return. Yes, you are hearing it right, there is such a lake located near the border of India and Myanmar, known as "The Lake of no return", about which there is a belief that whoever went near this lake could never return. This lake is renowned for some mysterious incidents, so let's try to know the interesting aspects related to it.
This lake is located in Pangsau Pass, lies on the crest of the Patkai Hills on the India - Myanmar border. This lake, about 1.5 km long and 0.8 km wide, is considered very mysterious because people call it the Bermuda triangle of India. It is also called Nawang Yang lake. The first story of this lake came to the fore during the second world war when some American airplanes did an emergency landing here at night considering this lake to be flat ground. The result was that all of them were lost in this lake forever. Since then it came to be called "The Lake of No Return". The second story also dates back to World War II when Japanese soldiers lost their way while returning from a battle and when they reached near this lake, they mysteriously disappeared. However, in another account, some say they were stricken by malaria and died there.
The third story says, while US Army soldiers working on the Ledo Road, they were sent to examine the lake, but they too could not return. The stories do not end here, a group of British troops is believed to have been lost in quicksand near this lake in 1942. Apart from this, people kept going close to this lake from time to time and never came back. Tangsa tribe has always been near this lake, the people of this tribe say that this lake is miraculous, because strange sounds are heard here at night.
Also in their folktales, there is a story about this lake. According to them, there was a village long ago near this lake where people often used to come for fishing. One day they all decided that they would celebrate a feast in their village and for this, they started their preparations and caught all the fishes of the lake for food. But an old man refused to attend the feast, as he dreamed that angels live in the form of fishes in this lake. The old man angrily asked everyone to leave the fishes back in the lake, but no one listened to him. So he decided to run away from the village, but when he returned the next day, the whole village was submerged in the lake. However, now this place has become an attractive tourist destination, and people from both India and Myanmar are eager to visit here.
