A field can look perfectly healthy at sunrise, covered in fresh green leaves that promise a rewarding harvest. Yet, before another sunrise arrives, the same field may appear stripped, tired, and damaged beyond recognition. Farmers often monitor egg masses and young caterpillar clusters, remove heavily affected plants, encourage natural predators, maintain field cleanliness, and apply recommended biological or chemical controls when necessary. Acting while the caterpillars are still young is usually far more effective than waiting until they have spread across the entire field.
