We all know that menstruation is such a taboo topic on which no one wants to talk openly, due to which many misconceptions have been created among people about it. Even today, there are many places in the world where menstruation is seen in different aspects, but it is actually a very normal process in women's bodies as part of their monthly cycle. In today's article, we are going to tell you about such a place where a girl's first period is observed as a celebration or in other words, a big event is celebrated when a girl gets her period for the first time. Knowing this, you will feel a little strange because it happens in India too, yes, you are reading it right, in a village of India, a very strange tradition is played with girls when their period comes for the first time.
In Solmari village of Assam's Bogai district, people usually dance and sing when a girl's period comes for the first time and this is the strangest tradition of the people there, which they have been following for years. As we have mentioned above that menstruation or periods is a very normal physiological process occurring in women and there is nothing unusual in this, but in some communities, there are many beliefs about it. Here, when a girl has her first period, people celebrate it in such a way that on this day people dance and sing as if there is a festive atmosphere in the village.
Not only this, here on the first period of the girl, she is married to a banana tree and this type of marriage is known by the name of Tuloni marriage. After marriage, the girl is locked in a room where even sunlight does not reach. Along with this, the girl is not given cooked food to eat, instead, she is given only raw milk and fruits to eat. For five days she has to sleep on the ground in a room and even she is not allowed to see anyone's face. Now why these beliefs are followed in a society is not known, but the local people have been celebrating it for many years and probably they will continue to do so in the coming times as well.
