You all must have heard about Titanic, we are not talking about the film but the real Titanic ship, on the basis of which this film was made. Known as the world's largest ship, the Titanic has been sunk more than a century ago, and people know where its debris is, but still, that debris has not been taken out from the ocean. But why this ship, which was once called the ship of dreams, is still decaying in the ocean, and why its debris has not been pulled out yet, so let's talk about this topic today?
On 10 April 1912, Titanic set out for New York on its maiden voyage from Southampton, but on 15 April 1912 it collided with an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean and broke into two pieces and its wreckage was buried at a depth of 3.8 kilometers. The most important thing is, where this ship was sunk, it was complete darkness there and the temperature in the depth of the ocean reaches around one degree Celsius. At the same time, it was very difficult for a human to reach such depth and then come back safely.
In the early decades after the sinking, the enormous pressure of ocean water was the biggest challenge for explorers. Because at that time there were no suitable equipments to face it, which could withstand the pressure of the water and take humans to the bottom. But when the Titanic was discovered in 1985 with the help of a deep-sea vehicle, it was seen that it was too late now, as the iron-eating bacteria had completely destroyed the entire shipwreck.
In this condition, if we try to lift the wreckage with the help of technology we have now, then probably all the debris will get mixed in the dust and our hands will get nothing. Along with that, It would also be an injustice to those buried people who have been sleeping deeply in the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean for the last hundred years. This is the reason that in 2001 UNESCO placed it under the Scope of Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage.
It is said that now the wreckage of the Titanic will not be able to last long because it is decomposing very rapidly. If experts are to be believed, in the coming 20-30 years, the debris of the Titanic will completely vanish and will merge in the ocean water. Actually, the metal-eating bacteria found in the ocean are rapidly devouring its iron composition, causing it to disappear very quickly. According to reports, these rust-causing bacteria eat about 180 kg of debris every day and this is the reason why scientists believe that now the age of Titanic is not much left.
