There was a bear named Wojtek who fought in World War II, but despite this great work, very few people know about him. Actually, it is a matter of 1942 when some polish soldiers were passing through the hills of Iran, where they saw a young Iranian boy who had a bear cub whose mother had been shot by hunters. That little bear was very cute in appearance, so the soldiers bought it from that boy and started taking care of it.

Over time, the bear grew up and started treating those soldiers as his everything. Wherever they went, the bear would accompany them, and in 1943, when polish soldiers were on their way to fight in Italy during the Battle of Monte Cassino, they also took Wojtek along as a soldier. He was an enlisted soldier, having his own paybook, rank, and serial number, which meant everything that a normal soldier used to have. He also fought world war II along with other polish soldiers, but in December 1963, at the age of 21, Wojtek left this world. At the time of his death, he weighed nearly 500 pounds and had a length of over 6 feet.

According to reports, Wojtek loved to smoke cigarettes and drink beer which later became his favorite drink as well. Sometimes he even used to eat cigarettes. He also loved sleeping with the other soldiers if they were ever cold in the night. Along with that, he enjoyed wrestling with his teammates and when the opponent lost, Wojtek would lick his face as an apology. He used to hug his companions and had fun throughout the day. To ask for food, he would hold the hands of his companions with his mouth. Whenever Wojtek saw his unit engaged in work, he himself would come forward to help them by lifting the crates and never drop any of them. In reality, Wojtek was just a bear, but his intelligence was quite similar to that of humans.
